Adult Male and Infant Baboons

Here is my thesis in a nutshell. An adult male (WBH, left) protectively holds his likely infant offsping. The infant watches the alpha male (WNR, right) groom an estrus female (WEM). The alpha male had immigated after the infant was conceived, could not have been its father, and was a potential threat to the infant’s life. ![]()
